These data come from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, data.census.gov. They are based on averages of data collected in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. These estimates cannot be used to say what is going on in any particular year in the period, only what the average value is over the full period. Some reservations have no data reported due to their small populations.
Teenagers who are not working, looking for work, or in school are usually “hanging out” with nothing to do and no place to go.
On the Coeur d'Alene Reservation, 13.4 percent of those age 16-19 were not working, looking for work, nor in school in 2016-2020.
