Indicators Idaho

Voter participation rate calculates how many registered voters cast ballots, while voters by population divides the total voting-age population by ballots cast.

In Adams in 2018:

the voter participation rate was 69 percent,
the voters by population was 45 percent,
the number of registered voters at cutoff was 2,594,
the number of people who registered on election day was 178,
the number of ballots cast was 1,917, and
the total number of registered voters was 2,772.

To get the most out of this indicator . . .

Ask questions:

· Voter participation rate can be associated with the ethnicity and mobility of the population. What’s the ethnic make-up of your county (e.g., how many are Hispanic and how many are non-Hispanic)? Also, what is the migration rate?

· What is the percentage of population who speak English less than very well?

· Is the Hispanic population growing at a different rate than the population as a whole?
